2nd Season Market Day Opening
9:00 a.m., Saturday, June 19, 2010
Opening Ceremonies begin at 10:00 am

The Maple Valley Farmers Market was established in the Spring of 2008 when a group of community leaders banned together and began to dream collectively of a Farmers’ Market becoming a reality in Maple Valley.  They began meeting weekly and discussed the possibilities of what a Farmers’ Market would look like and what would it take to roll out the first Farmers’ Market right here in Maple Valley. Initially, in-depth research was required to build the foundation, coupled with visits to neighboring and regional Farmers Markets, as well as talking to Farmer Market Managers and a diverse assortment of vendors.  A community-wide survey was completed and the process to create a Maple Valley Farmer’s Market was created. The Maple Valley Farmers’ Market Steering Committee is comprised of the following community members:

Shaun Foley (Foley’s Produce)
Professor Emeritus Richard H. Gradwohl (Happy Mountain Farms)
Mary Jane Glaser (Maple Valley Creative Arts Council & Tahoma School District)
Patty Davis (Lake Wilderness Arboretum)
Marie Lindblom (Lake Wilderness Arboretum)
Kim Emmons (John L. Scott Real Estate/Maple Valley)
Cheryl Castagna (John L. Scott Real Estate/Kent)
Victoria Laise Jonas (Community Member)
Debra Meade (Community Member)

Our Farmers' Market is a community based effort and is co-sponsored by the Tahoma School District and the City of Maple Valley. We are sincerely grateful for the cooperative partnership that has been developed and we are thankful for the many volunteers working together to ensure a Farmers' Market becomes part of Maple Valley's history.
